Plungesmile Programs
Sustainable Farming Scheme
Cultivating Change through Agriculture.
About the Programme
Plungesmile’s Sustainable Farming Scheme is a transformative initiative designed to power our daily school feeding programme while promoting food security, youth inclusion, and community-led development.
What began as a response to rising food and logistics costs has become a movement. This project turns unused land into productive farms that supply key food crops directly to schools. It also creates training and income opportunities for rural youth and women.
Through this initiative, farming becomes more than cultivation. It becomes a tool for education, resilience, and lasting impact.
What We Do

The farming scheme starts with preparing land in rural communities. Each step from clearing and soil testing to planting and harvesting is thoughtfully managed using eco-friendly practices. The farms produce essential food crops including maize, cassava, cowpea, millet, and vegetables.

Training is a core part of the programme. We provide hands-on agricultural education to young people and women. They learn sustainable methods like composting, crop rotation, and irrigation. These skills build their capacity to earn and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

The food harvested goes directly into our school meals. This model helps us reduce feeding costs and ensure fresh, healthy ingredients for the children we serve. Every step of the journey is documented and shared online to keep the public informed and connected to the impact they are helping to create.
Why It Matters
Feeding over two thousand children every school day requires more than goodwill. With food prices continuing to rise, donations alone are no longer enough to sustain this work.
Farming offers a reliable solution. It gives us control over food sourcing, cuts down operational costs, and strengthens our supply chain. More importantly, it creates jobs, fosters pride, and helps young people see agriculture as a pathway to growth and innovation.
Who Can Get Involved
This programme is open to individuals, organisations, and partners who care about sustainable development and want to make a lasting difference. Whether you support by donating, volunteering, providing land, or amplifying our story, your contribution helps expand our reach and impact.
What We Do
- The pilot phase covers sixteen hectares of farmland. Early outcomes already show reduced meal costs and growing participation from youth in local communities.
- A full documentary video series is capturing each stage of the project. From land preparation to crop distribution, the journey is made public to build trust, attract support, and inspire others to adopt the model.
This is not just a farming project. It is a living solution that combines food security, education, transparency, and rural development.
